Retaining walls are relatively rigid walls used for supporting the soil mass laterally so that the soil can be retained at different levels on the two sides for the prevention of hillside erosion and slips.

It is important that retaining walls are appropriately designed and constructed to suit the conditions of the site and to meet the regulations. Failing to do so can cause a lot damage.
